Also last week Austene won the
Turnaround Achievement Award
Turnaround Achievement Award
for taking a bad situation and making it good!
Here is what his principle and one of his teachers
said about him at the awards lunch:
said about him at the awards lunch:
"Congratulations to 8th grade Shasta student, Austene Morris, recipient of the Turnaround Achievement Award. He was honored during the fifteenth annual Turnaround Achievement Awards luncheon, at the Casanova Center. His teacher, Autumn Gardner said, “I nominated Austene because he has turned it around in behavior and academics. He had a “D” in math the first quarter and earned an “A” last quarter. He chooses to sit at a seat by himself so he can focus, and when he is finished with his math, he wants more math. He wants to do extra challenges even if there is no credit involved - for the sake of learning. As far as behavior is concerned,
last year and at the beginning of the year,
Austene made some poor choices and was in trouble a lot;
but now, he’s one of my best students with a positive attitude.”
The Shasta staff is proud of the Austene’s effort,
perseverance, and commitment to make better choices.
